The Cost of Entry is a Heartbeat, (2020)
Spatial Sound Performance, heartbeat sensor, vibrotactile, field recordings, lighting, digital video projection
The Cost of Entry is a Heartbeat is an immersive spatial sound experience drawing on field recordings from thermal bathhouses in Budapest, Hungary combined with live heartbeat data from people attending the piece. The artist believes that the first step towards understanding difference lies in our ability to be together.
This performance invites people to come together and just be, held by the rhythm of our collective heartbeats.
Developed at the Spatial Sound Institute in Budapest, Hungary (2020) and Lobe Studio (2022) in Vancouver. Exhibited in different forms at Galerie UQAM (2024) and Phi Centre (2025).
